Starting up

For background, in case anybody ever looks at this blog besides myself, I am a software engineer (specifically focused on Java/J2EE, but also interested in large scale data analysis and information retrieval in general). This blog is dedicated to some of my technical interests, and occasionally, actual technical details about how to do cool or useful stuff.

I've always had the issue that I think of some idea that I should further develop, some piece of technology that I should learn more about, some bit of code I've worked with that other people might find useful, and so on. Then, an hour later, or a day later, or a week later, I forget about it.

The first purpose of this blog is for me to record my ideas that I want to write about, so I can go back and remember them later. So lets get started...
